Westmoreland County American Legion Baseball
Welcome to Westmoreland County American Legion baseball league website ....... The league encompasses the entire area of Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties located in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Our league consists of young men between the ages of 16 to 18 years of age who strive to carry on the deep rooted tradition of legion baseball in our area. American legion baseball is one of the few organizations left that teams are comprised of young men that live within their communities. Also the American Legion baseball program installs the value of sportsmanship and good character.
Bushy Run Reaches 2022 Pennsylvania Region 7 Tournament Semifinals
The 2022 season came to a close for the final three District 31 teams this past weekend at the Pennsylvania Region 7 Tournament held in Bedford. Bushy Run Post 260 posted the top finish from District 31 at the tournament, while Latrobe Post 515 won a pair of games to advance to the Semifinals. Young Township Post 57 went winless in pool play.
After the dust settled, Philipsburg Post 437 was crowned the 2022 Region 7 Champion, their first regional championship since 2003. Bushy Run enjoyed a 3-2 record throughout the tournament. On Saturday, they defeated the Cambria League Champion, Saint Michael 8-5. Then on Sunday, they beat Young Township 7-5. On Monday, the Beavers fell to Phillpsburg 4-1. Via tiebreakers, Bushy Run advanced to the semifinals as their pool's two seed and squared off with Latrobe. Bushy Run defeated Latrobe 7-3 in eight innings before eventually falling in the championship game to Philipsburg 5-3. This year's regional was Bushy Run's ninth regional appearance, good for fourteenth most in the region, tied with Beech Creek, Mifflin County, and Lower Burrell.
2022 District 31 Grand Champion Latrobe went 2-2 in the tournament. Their first win came on Saturday afternoon defeating the Cambria League runner up, Hollidaysburg 13-3 in five innings. The Jethawks also defeated host Bedford 2-1 in a rain postponed game on Monday morning. Post 515 went down Monday afternoon to Beech Creek, 8-6 on a walk off grand slam. Latrobe advanced to the semifinal as their pool's number one seed and lost to Bushy Run. Latrobe has been on a nice streak of regional tournament appearances, this year marking their eighteenth all-time, most in Westmoreland County history and tied for fourth most in the region with DuBois.
2022 District 31 Runner Up Young Township went 0-3 in the tournament. The Renegades fell to Philipsburg 4-0 on Saturday, Bushy Run on Sunday, and 14-6 to Saint Michael on Monday. This year's tournament marked the tenth all-time for YT, good for thirteenth most in the entire region, tied with Punxsutawney.
2022 District 31 Showcase Results
Officials from District 31 conducted the 2022 District 31 Showcase on Thursday 7/14 in front of college coaches from various levels. Players were invited to run the 60 yard dash; catchers threw to 2nd base; outfielders threw from right field to home plate; infielders threw from short stop to first base; players hit; and pitchers threw a timed bullpen.
